Genevieve might like sour grapes, citrus, some bitter fruit, she stopped considering them so grating on the taste buds long ago.

But it’s hard to call them favorites, as much as it’s difficult to address her love of apples.

Basic, with bite, crisp and sweet, sometimes sour. And sometimes a mess when goring into the flesh. She still finds some of a bushel too sickly sweet, and that’s more than can be said for the sour she goes for first.

Apples remind her of drinking spiced dram in autumn, taking in more to have it, but each sip is nothing greater than negligible when reviewing the warmth of the moment.

Sour grapes she coped with, easy as not many take them, and they’re small, pretty, shiny. Pin-poked speckles over bright green, dotting the jewels all for her, it’s been ages since she took to them.

They aren’t worse than other fruits she enjoys, they’re what they are, and not much more.

But if she had the effort stored in her, to take it upon herself to cater to what she hid away, maybe she could get a kick out of candying them.

She’s never had those.

Candy apples, she has, but no, they’re really not for her.
